Opened 9/9/21 - the newly renovated KinoSaito Art Center
Kikuo Saito was a longtime friend and artistic mentor to Strauss. His vast body of work including paintings, drawings, and theater sets is displayed and archived at the new site KinoSaito. Strauss is the Architect for the conversion of the historic building to a new occupancy including galleries, theater space, and artist in residence program.

Theater Space - KinoSaito fulfills its mission through exhibitions, performances, and artist-in-residence initiatives, with particular emphases on the presentation and advancement of contemporary theater, and of painting related to the Color Field tradition.

Artist in Residence
Stair Hall to the upper floors and theater. Cave Canem, a reference to Saito's theater backdrop for Ash Garden and the mosaic floor of a villa in Pompeii.
8th Street Facade
KinoSaito occupies an historic building site converted from the former Saint Patrick's School. In 2014, Saito and his partner Mikiko Ino purchased the century-old three-structure property in Verplanck, New York, a historic brick-making hamlet on the Hudson River. The School served as Saito's studio until his passing, after which, and in accordance with his wishes, was reconceived as KinoSaito, and renovated into a multifunctional and multidisciplinary art space open to the public in 2021.
